Importance of Body Language

Doris Pooser, a recognized expert in the fashion and beauty industry says that “thirty years ago, body language was not in most dictionaries.  Today it’s an industry.” True. Along with the strength of uttered words, now everybody is tested on the  non-verbal messages he deliver at any given time.

What is body language? In the broadest sense, all bodily gestures, postures, facial expressions, bodily movements, and hmmmm..s and phews  are part of body language. More than 55% of our communication process comprises of body language.

When you enter an office, feeling little good about your outward appearance, remember, within 30 seconds you are evaluated based on your body language. Your facial expressions, length of eye contact, firmness of your handshakes, and all other positive signals your body emanates are assessed within the short time span of 30 seconds.  Therefore be sure that you deliver appropriate language using your body.
